What You Should Know about the Wireless Door Lock Release System ?

If you are looking for ways on how to install a wireless door lock release system, then this article should be helpful to you. Read along and learn how this process is done, as well as other tips you may need to know.

Overview on the Wireless Door Release System

Primarily, this type of security system functions quite the same as how garage door openers operate. For instance, there is a radio frequency transmitter that is designed to signal a receiver. Upon obtaining a signal coming from the transmitter, there are some changes that take place in the electrical contacts found on the receiver, and these contacts activate appliances including electromagnetic lock or electric strike.

In the case of a wireless door release system, a wireless receiver is used instead of the normally open switch that is used in an electric strike system. What separates a wireless receiver from a normally open switch is the fact that the former needs power to function. There is also a need for a power supply that comes with separate outputs as this helps operate an electric strike and a receiver. By doing so, wiring becomes less tedious to do as the process is simplified.

However, there are some concerns that may come along with an entirely wireless security system. The electric locking device can be a bit of a problem since it can consume so much power. The receiver, though, can be powered to operate by using two lantern batteries. Although a few electric strikes tend to draw 240mA on a minimum at a 12-volt DC, this can cause the batteries to run out easily.

If you want to eliminate the stress in wiring, then a wireless release system that is operated by batteries should be the best way to go. You may opt for an electronic access control with a standalone feature, which is what you need to make a battery-operated system. This type of door lock is powered by batteries, which means they run independently of the wireless release system for hassle-free wiring.

Facts about Troubleshooting

It is a little more complicated to install a wireless release system since there is a need to share airwaves. This means, cellular, microwave towers and wireless routers interrupt the functioning of a wireless release system. Other items that can cause some interruptions with the function of the wireless release system include computers and radio communication facilities.

Wireless receivers also have dip switches, and these refer to rocker switches set in two positions, which are on and off. If you try to translate these in computer logic, on stands for "one" while off is equivalent to "zero". Once you input these in the dip switch bank, the frequency used to transmit or receive is transmitted to the logic board.

A great number of wireless receivers come with dip switches, and the latter helps choose the radio frequency to be used by the system. It is important that the settings of the switch in the transmitter and receiver should match, otherwise the system will not function. It is also important to check the frequency settings as these should match between the receiver and transmitter to make sure the system works.

Major problems with the interference may occur once the method fails to work. Thus, it is important not to use wireless items to avoid these interference. A microwave antenna farm that is situated in proximity to the wireless door lock release system can also cause this concern.
